No. DesJets is a charter broker. For medical missions we contract with specialist air ambulance operators who hold the medical certifications, employ the flight physicians and nurses, own or lease the ICU-configured aircraft, and carry the operating certificate. Our role is to source the right operator, verify their credentials for your mission, and coordinate the logistics.
How do you verify a medical operator?
For every medical mission we verify: current AOC (Part 135 in the US, EASA Part-CAT in Europe), CAMTS or EURAMI accreditation status where the operator claims to hold it, insurance coverage, medical director and crew credentials, and equipment appropriate to the patient's condition. Verification is completed before you commit to the operator.
How quickly can an air ambulance be launched?
Depends on operator availability and mission profile. Domestic US missions with pre-positioned aircraft are typically wheels-up within 4 to 8 hours of activation; international launches usually take 6 to 12 hours for permits and crew positioning. Some critical missions launch faster; complex international transfers can take longer.

We coordinate with most major medical and travel insurance carriers on documentation. Direct-bill availability depends on the specific operator and carrier — we'll confirm before you commit.
Can a family member fly with the patient?
In most missions one family member flies at no additional charge; additional companions depend on the operator's aircraft configuration and the medical mission profile.

Medical charter is typically priced per mission, not per hour, and reflects the aircraft class, distance, medical crew required, and international permits. A written estimate is provided after we understand the patient's condition and destination — never a blind hourly rate.
